A NEW cafe and bar with a Depeche Mode theme has officially opened in the busy city and customers can’t wait to try it.
The new Cafe Depeche Bar on Lancaster Quay, Co Cork has officially opened during the week and is set to become a huge hit among locals and tourists.

The new cafe provides 80 seating and severe customers some delicious breakfast, lunch and brunch throughout the day.
The owners of the cafe, Humphrey and Trinette Porter, revealed that they were originally hoping to open their doors to the lively venue earlier during the summer– but experienced some setbacks.
This meant the business missed out on the opportunity to serve during the busy peak season with many tourists visiting Co Cork but they opened up in time for the busy August Bank Holiday weekend.
As the venue has officially opened up to the public, it is located at the deeply missed Thirsty Scholar bar which was well-loved by Corkonians.
But fear not, the venue kept the majority of the former establishment’s interior, including the two fireplaces, to stay warm during the harsh winters.
The venue boasts a gorgeous new Depeche Mode theme with fabulous and bright interiors, cosy couches, neon lights and picture frames of the musical band.
The establishment branded their cafe based on the popular Depeche Mode musical band, which is well known for its English electronic music in the UK and had two UK number-one albums.
The group also had 50 songs in the UK Singles Chart, 17 top 10 albums in the UK chart and have sold over 100 million records across the globe.
The cafe next door to Cafe Depeche Bar is set to close down for the week and be reopened as a new dessert bar, providing a huge boost for Corkonians and tourists.
Customers on social media said they “can’t wait to grab a pint” at the new venue.
New establishment in Dublin
Meanwhile, a popular restaurant in the capital will make its comeback in just weeks after closing nearly ten years ago.
The famous Unicorn restaurant on Merrion Row in Dublin will reopen its restaurant in September, led by the famous restaurateur and chef Kristan Burness.
The restaurateur spent a short stint running the renowned restaurant nearly ten years ago.
And he has now returned and begun work to create his ideal version of the Unicorn.
The popular terrace that was high-loved by Dubliners and internationals for its long lunches will “bring Merrion Court back to life” with convivial al fresco dining.
Kristan said: “It’s been a dream of mine, to finish what I started here a decade ago.
“My other businesses are established and running smoothly, so when I was approached about the property, I couldn’t resist.
“There’s challenging times ahead, but if it was easy, it wouldn’t be fun!”
The new restaurant will have a “fresh, new look” but will still offer classic Italian cuisine.
Kristan is set to take on the role of Head Chef, ensuring the menu and service are at their highest standards.
The menu will feature his signature Wild Mushroom and Truffle Risotto and Unicorn favourites, such as Grilled Veal Cutlets, Salsa Verde and Parmesan Mash, complemented by an extensive wine list and choice of cocktails.
The unicorn was established in a row of former stables in 1938 and, under various owners and management, hosted generations of loyal diners, attracted by its fine Italian cuisine and quirky charm.
