MAJOR boost for hundreds of customers as popular bar confirms reopening after the shocking sudden closure earlier this year.
Katie Daly’s Bar and Restaurant on the Main Street of the busy Gorey Town“is being brought back to life” with new changes while maintaining the old offering.

The original owners closed the establishment after 14 years in the business at the start of the year “due to the current economic climate”, making it no longer sustainable to continue.
And they expressed their gratitude for their loyal customers by sharing their “special occasions” and the “support over the years”.
However, the establishment has been taken over by brothers Paraic and Rory Murphy and their business partner Greg Murphy, who also manage Raspberry Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge in Gorey.
Originally from Cork, Greg worked at the Amber Springs and the Marfield House Hotel before opening Blue Restaurant in Wicklow town.
Talking to the Irish Independent, Paraic stated they decided to take on this new opportunity once it came up as they “didn’t want to turn it down”.
He said: “Myself and Rory are owner-occupiers and when the previous people left unexpectedly in January, we said we’d take it on.
“Katie Daly’s was a brilliant business here before, it was a staple in Gorey town and the food was excellent so we’ve a lot to live up to.
“It’s right in the centre of the town, everyone here knows it and people like Katie Daly’s.”
Locals were left gutted when the establishment announced its sudden closure on Tuesday, January 14, leaving them to find their new favourite place in Gorey.
However, customers were delighted to hear that it reopened its doors on Wednesday, March 5.
The restaurant will be similar to the original yet offering a new range of updates, including a new menu and interior,
‘WORK IN PROGRESS’
He added: “It’s still a work in progress and we’ve a lot more planned as well.
“Our mission will be to serve great food and drink and to create a good atmosphere.
“We’re hoping to bring the live music back in the future but for now we’re just focusing on the food and drink and getting that right first.”
The former staff members of Katie Daly’s have also reprised their old jobs as part of the new team.
To add on top of the new ownership, the establishment has also acquired a new Head Chef named Alex Puzan, who is well-known for his fantastic food.
He was the former Head Chef at the Duck Terrace Restaurant & Cafe.
Val Murphy, the head chef at Raspberry, is also taking on an executive role at the restaurant.
