‘We’re all a bit shaken’– Popular Dublin bar forced to close for ‘some time’ after shock fire

THE owners of a popular Dublin bar that caught a blaze have issued a heartbreaking update following the fire.

The fire erupted at the Love Tempo bar, formerly The Clock, on Thomas Street in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

The owners of the bar have taken to Instagram to share an update.

In the statement, they revealed that although nobody was hurt in the fire, they will now have to remain closed for “some time”.

They said: “Thank you so much to everyone for all your messages of concern regarding today’s fire.

“We’re all a bit shaken but just relieved nobody was hurt.

“It will take a while to assess the damage but unfortunately it looks like we will be closed for some time.”

Firefighters from Tara Street and Dolphins Barn stations were called to the fire in the city centre just before 5.30pm on Sunday.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Dublin Fire Brigade wrote: “Breathing apparatus teams extinguished the fire and a turntable ladder was on scene.

“It was the first operational breathing apparatus wear for Recruit firefighter Louise.”

As a result of the blaze, the road was closed for some time as six fire trucks battled the flames.

A Garda spokesperson said in a statement: “Gardai assisted fire services with a fire at a premises on Thomas Street, Dublin 8, this evening, Sunday 2 March 2025.

“No injuries were reported at the time.”

The bar owners went on to thank Dublin Fire Brigade and shared that they will keep their customers updated on any news.

They added: “Thanks to Dublin Fire Brigade for their incredible work and to our amazing team for reacting so quickly.

“We’ll keep you updated on any news as have it, much love.”

After the blaze, Libertine Market also shared an update on social media.

Taking to Instagram, they assured their followers that everyone was fine after the shock incident.

People have taking to the comment section to send their condolences to the bar.

One person wrote: “Huge hugs guys, heart sank when I heard.”

Another commented: “We are so devastated to hear this, sending all our love to you guys.”
