A BELOVED historic Irish pub loved by celebrities has announced it has closed for good – leaving punters devastated.
Dalkey’s famous Queen pub took to social media on Thursday to announce the news.

The historic south Dublin pub, which was established in 1745, was well-known for being frequented by celebrities such as Bono and Bruce Springsteen.
And it was also popular with locals and visitors.
In a post on social media, the company announced its shock closure.
They wrote: “We are CLOSED. We would like to sincerely thank each of you for your incredible support.
“To our team, customers, suppliers, and friends – your loyalty, hard work, and trust have meant the world to us.”
The Queen’s closure announcement comes after the pub was put on the Irish market for €3.95million.
It was bought for €3.5million by hoteliers Ray Byrne and Eoin Doyle three years ago.
They bought the pub in 2021 from former owners, AIB CEO Tom Mulcahy and his wife June, who reportedly paid €7 million for the historic pub in 2003.
The couple operated the property until the Covid pandemic, which forced them to close.
The site has planning permission for an extension for a 30-bed guesthouse at the rear of the property.
But the local community were strongly opposed to its extension.
The historic pub comprises a large main bar and dining area on the ground floor, including The Parlour which is available for private events.
The Vico, which is situated on the first floor, has its own bar, seating areas, service facilities and storage.
The Queen’s also features a courtyard terrace facing Dalkey’s Castle Street.
Customers were left gutted by the decision, with many taking to the comments to pay tributes to the popular spot.
One said: “So sad. Such an iconic pub that was part of Dalkey Village’s identity.”
Another added: “Sad news lot businesses closing due to unsustainable business and lack of support from government very expensive to run businesses in Ireland.”
Someone else wrote: “So sad to hear this. We visited from the U.S. a couple of years ago and have continued to follow you on IG so we can visit again in the future.
“Such a charming pub and restaurant. Best wishes for all.”
A fourth said: “Dalkey won’t be the same, very sad news, wishing u all the very best and thank u for making it a very special place.”
