Bosses thanked all of the pub’s patrons for the “great craic” over the past five years.
They posted: “We’ll be closing our doors on Friday the 15th of March.
“We can’t thank all our customers and staff enough for the continued support for the last five years, it’s been great craic. Pat, Orla & Stephen.”
Loyal customers were left devastated at the shock announcement.
One customer said: “Such a lovely pub and a great welcome, it will be missed, wish Pat, Orla and Stephen all the best.”
Another said: “Sad news, onwards and upwards, enjoy some down time with the family.”
Others commented to express how they were “sorry to hear” news of the bar closing, wishing the family the “best of luck”.
Another punter wrote: “Absolutely loved every minute I had in Buckos, always greeted with a big smile from Pat Stephen and Orla, and so many laughs and memories to cherish.
“You will be missed so much.”
Owner of the pub, located on Linenhall Street, Pat Moran told The Mayo News that the decision to close the premises was a “personal choice”.
Moran took over the pub in 2019 and since then it has become a popular spot for live music.
He said that the decision to close has not come from the rising costs in running the spot.

Eithna’s By The Sea is located in Mullaghmore, County Sligo, and has been open for over three decades.
In a post on Facebook, Eithna shared the devastating update with followers.

She said: “After much consideration over the last few months I have finally decided to permanently close the doors of Eithnas By the Sea bringing to an end over three decades of my passion and love of running what became an iconic Seafood Restaurant on the Wild Atlantic Way.
The current climate running small businesses has become very challenging, together with the difficulties of sourcing seasonal staff, have made this decision happen at this time.”
