EAGLE-EYED Emmerdale viewers have spotted a major continuity blunder involving Victoria Sugden at the pub – did you spot it too?

During Monday night’s (September 23) episode, Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) went to The Woolpack for a drink with Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) and her long-lost brother John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) but all eyes were on the drinks rather than the characters as fans spotted a silly mistake.

As the trio met up at the pub, Matty stepped away to get a round in. He came back to the table with two pints, putting one down at his side of the table and the other in front of Victoria.

He then went back for the third drink, which was definitely not a pint, but he didn’t give it to John.

The episode cut away to another scene before circling back to the trio where one of the pints had magically jumped from Victoria’s side of the table over to John, leaving Victoria with the soda or tonic drink.

Pointing out the obvious blunder on X, formerly Twitter, one viewer wrote: “Continuity errors on Emmerdale again. At this point I think it is done deliberately to see how many see.

“Pint given to Victoria but John ‘drank’ it and Victoria ended up with the water or soda or whatever,” they explained.

Victoria didn’t notice the accidental drink switch thought, as she’s too busy trying to get to know John better.

She told him all about her kids and her mum, who passed away. But John appeared not to be interested, ignoring what she was saying and paying more attention to his phone.

Calling him out on his rudeness, Victoria grabbed his phone to see what he’s more interested in.

“What is so important that you can’t put it down for ten seconds?” she asked before taking a look at the screen.

She’s shocked to discover flirty and sexual messages from Aaron Dingle (Dany Miller).

“Message off Aaron. And another one. Oh my God! Why is he messaging you like that?” she exclaimed.

“I knew you two hooked up, but you said it was a one-off,” she added.

“And now it isn’t,” John replied angrily.

Aaron Dingle's biggest storylines

The character Aaron Dingle (formerly Livesy) made his Emmerdale debut all the way back in 2003. Current actor Danny Miller took on the role in 2008. Here are some of Aaron's biggest soap storylines over the years.

  • McFarlane family: After Aaron returns to the village in 2008, he is arrested by Ross Kirk (Samuel Anderson) for possession of drugs. His mother Chas‘ (Lucy Pargeter) family later learn he is a drug courier for the McFarlanes.
  • Coming to terms with his homosexuality: Initially, Aaron questioned and struggled to come to terms with his homosexuality. He ultimately confided in friend and guardian Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt).
  • Romantic advance towards Adam Barton: At one point, Aaron begins dating Holly Barton (Sophie Powles) and befriends her brother Adam (Adam Thomas). Aaron tries to kiss Adam after they are involved in a run-off road collision. Embarrassed, he tells Adam that he misunderstood the situation. Aaron sleeps with Holly, however, Adam informs his family that he thinks Aaron is gay. Aaron denies it but Holly ends the relationship.
  • Child sexual abuse: In 2015, it was revealed Aaron had been sexually abused by his father Gordon (Gary Mavers) when he was  from the age of 8 before Gordon kicked him out. Ultimately, Gordon was imprisoned years later – but took his own life while in prison.
  • Relationship with Jackson Walsh: Aaron and Jackson Walsh (Marc Silcock) started dating after a tumultuous start to knowing each other. Their story ultimately ended in heartbreak, as Jackson died by assisted suicide.
  • Suicide attempt: A harrowing storyline from 2010 saw a then-teenage Aaron attempt to take his own life.
  • Relationship with Robert Sugden: Aaron and long-standing character Robert Sugden were romantically linked following the latter’s return in 2014. Nicknamed “Robron”, the pair married in 2018, however, Robert exited the soap in 2019.

“You do know that Aaron is married to Robert, OUR brother,” she continued, shocked.

“Not anymore,” John interjected, before Victoria could add: “And he comes with a whole container load of baggage.”

“Is it serious? Are you two an item?” Victoria probed while John downed the rest of his – or Victoria’s – remaining pint and prepared to head off, telling his sister to “get over herself” on the way out.

Victoria is left furious that John doesn’t want to open up and share details of his life with her after she’s caught up on all the big events from her past.

Emmerdale actress Isabel recently explained the reason for her character’s probing, admitting that it’s because she likes that there are more Sugdens in the village.

“[It] is that Aaron has been involved with Robert and Aaron is a bit of a liability. And if they continue to see each other and it goes wrong, John’s going to leave, and he’s going to leave the village. And that’s the last thing that she wants,” she said in an interview with Metro.co.uk.

Victoria had no idea that her brother and ex-brother-in-law were in a secret relationship, and of course she’s worried that he doesn’t have enough roots in the village yet to stay if his relationship with Aaron goes sour.
