The popular LGBTQIA+ cocktail bar took to social media to share the news.
The spot was well known for providing event and entertainment on the Galway night life scene.
They first opened their doors back in 2018.
Bar Nova hosted weekly events such as Flash Back To The 00’s and Saturday’s Pride Party.
However, the bar will call last orders this weekend.
Posting a statement they said: “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closure of Bar Nova this Sunday, 1st September.
“We’d like to take the chance to thank the amazing team, our customers, performers, entertainment and suppliers who have all helped to make the last 6 years a huge success.
“We hope that you can all join us this weekend to raise a glass, share some memories and celebrate the good times.”
They continued: “It’s not a goodbye, but a heartfelt Thank You for all the laughs, friendships and unforgettable nights.
“Let’s make this weekend one for the books! We can’t wait to see you all.”
Fans of the west end hot spot were devastated by the announcement posted yesterday and thanked them for the ‘joy’ over the past few years.
One person said: “Congratulations on the wonderful years & the queer joy that you have shared with your community. Lots of love & best wishes for the future.”
Another added: “Forever grateful for Nova.”
One person wrote: “Devastated! Such good memories with ye!”
While another added: “Such a lovely place sorry to lose it.”
Another blow for Galway
The closure comes after a popular restaurant and wine bar also shut their doors in the county earlier this month.
The owners of Builín Blasta Café in Spiddal, Co Galway Heather Connolly and Eimear Killian took to Instagram to announce the devastating news of their wine bar service due to the current economic climate.
They said: “Our last evening of service will be Saturday, August 10th.
“While this was not an easy choice, the demand simply isn’t there to justify staying open in the evenings.
“We are excited to focus our energy on in-house special events, corporate and event catering, and, of course, our beloved café and bakery.”
They added: “We have loved serving you and creating memorable experiences together.
“Go raibh maith agaibh as bhur dtacaíocht agus bhur gcomhthuiscint leanúnach.
“Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
