Three women and 13 men appear in court on various charges following melee outside pub in Cork

THREE women and 13 men appeared in court today following a melee outside a pub.

The 16 individuals faced various charges including public order offences, threatening Gardai.

The appearances of all 16 resulted from a major incident outside a pub on Oliver Plunkett Street and the surrounding areas in Cork’s City Centre on Sunday night.

No details were outlined in court, but according to the Garda Press office, a fight broke out between two groups.

When officers went to the scene and tried to help an injured man lying on the footpath, they were allegedly verbally abused and attacked.

Incapacitant spray had to be used to control the group and two Gardai were injured.

At a special sitting of Cork District Court today, all 16 were brought before Judge John King.

Martin Ekhosuehi, 22, and Matthew Ekhosnehi, 23, both of Willow Gardens, Glanmire, Co Cork faces three public order charges.

Marvin Ekhosnehi, 20, also of the same address, was charged with two public order offences.

Emmanuel Anabo, 25, of Shamrock Lawn, Douglas, Co Cork faces three public order charges.

Accused charged

Maureen Aigbera, 20, of Riverstown, Co Cork, was charged with three offences under the public order act.

Checkwuebka Ian Akaboga, 22, of Bandon, Co Cork, was charged with three public order offences. Kanyinsola Akintope, 23, of Wilton, Co Cork, was charged with two public order offences.

Dylan Mdangoh Nchantea, 27, of Bridgemount, Carrigaline, was charged with three public order offences, while Godson Ikebundu, 22, of Castleconnell, Co Limerick, was charged with two public order offences and an assault charge.

Malcolm Oshe, 22, of 5 Brooklodge Drive, Glanmire, Co Cork, was charged with three public order offences, while Melanie Oshe, 20, of the same address, faces two public order charges.

Gardai not objecting to bail

Farshid Murphy Lahadjo, 23, and Djomiou Lahadjo, 21, both of Glanmire, Co Cork, were charged with three public order offences.

Emmanuella Itsede, 22, of Cahermoneen, Tralee, Co Kerry, was charged with two public order offences. Kamji Gotwen, 20, of Fresh Student Living, Brickfield Lane in Dublin 8, was charged with three public order offences.

Chimdi Obi of Grange, Douglas, 23, was charged with three public order offences.

Sergeant Gearoid Davis said Gardai were not objecting to bail.

He said Gardai were awaiting instruction from the DPP.

Most of the defendants are working in supermarkets and are earning between €150 to €500 a week.

The judge granted them free legal aid, with the exception of one, who said he didn’t want it.

They will appear before Cork District Court on October 8.
