However, there’s no sense of him being overly concerned about the threat posed by Michael Chandler.
Just like the weekend previous, the 35-year-old shared since-deleted videos of himself revelling with punters.
In one of them he can be heard delighting in two men’s efforts to mimic two of his ardent foes – Jake Paul and Tony Ferguson.
McGregor insists he has quit drinking for the duration of his ongoing training camp.
He is holding a bottle of his own brand of whiskey in one video although he’s never seen drinking from it.
In any case, sections of his fanbase were worried to see him enjoying such a hectic night out when his bout is rapidly hurtling into view.
One person wrote: “Bro is gonna lose so bad.”
While another added: “Bro doing this a little too close to his fight.”
There were a few dissenting voices though who argued it was all for show and that he is secretly devoting himself 100 per cent to his match-up with Chandler.
A loyal defender stated: “At this point feels like he’s trolling the MMA community.”
And another predicted: “This dude is wild, it has to be fake at this point. Mind games.”
Comparisons were made to Ryan Garcia’s pre-fight antics in April where he openly claimed he was drinking tequila virtually every night.
When fight night arrived, the 25-year-old then put on a career-best display as he outclassed the previously undefeated Devin Haney.
However, McGregor is ten years older, hasn’t fought in three years and is coming off a broken leg.
So there’s already enough reasons to be pessimistic about what version of the once dominant striker MMA fans will see when UFC 303 finally arrives.
In the time since the Crumlin native last made the walk, Chandler has fought three times in addition to having competed at UFC 262 in May 2021.
Alarmingly though, he has lost three of those four contests.
However, it should be noted that the explosive wrestler has faced a murderer’s row since joining the promotion.
And he has very much gone down swinging in thrilling affairs against Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje and Charles Oliveira.
Those are two former interim champions at lightweight with the latter previously ruling the roost at featherweight.
